Announcements

CentOS 7 Deprecation

In less than a year, the operating system CentOS 7 will no longer receive updates. RENCI used CentOS 7 for all virtual machines created before 2021. Running unsupported operating systems is not allowed by the UNC Information Security Controls Standard. All CentOS 7 VMs need to be either rebuilt as RHEL 9, decommissioned, or migrated elsewhere such as Sterling as soon as possible. ACIS is happy to help you with planning these upgrades via help@renci.org.

For more information, see CentOS 7 Deprecation.

Single Sign-On (SSO) for RENCI’s Google Workspace

SSO for RENCI’s Google Workspace will be enabled on March 15th. SSO requires you to use your RENCI credentials to login and access your RENCI Google Workspace content. For detailed information on this change, refer to the Google SSO Announcement memo and illustrated guide for the new login process.

Access.renci.org going away

The website https://access.renci.org/ (used for requesting new external user accounts) will be going offline by the end of March due to security issues while we work on a replacement. In the meantime, the RENCI sponsor must email help@renci.org to request external accounts. Remember to include all of the following information in your email:
